Welman Street Film Society
With the coming of larger home TV screens and the increasing availability of films on DVD, Stan & Rebecca and Max & Gael thought it would be nice to share some classic cinema with each other – old favourites as well as films that we knew only by reputation. So the Welman Street Film Society was born as we alternated choices of films and enjoyed them over nibbles and a few drinks.
Soon we decided that a sort of occasional mini “film festival” would be fun, with the alternating hosts choosing the day’s theme, the films and creating appropriate meals.
So far, we've screened 72 films, and our most recent "Film Festival" saw us looking at looking at International Caper/Heist Films of the 1950s.
